Empowering Students with Personalized Learning & National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)

The NETS & Mobile Learning Technologies

The NETS inspire me to use personal and mobile devices to facilitate a seamless workflow between the work students and I do inside and outside of school.  As a classroom educator I maximized iPads and other iOS devices to help students gather, share and evaluate information.  We use apps for the iPad and iPhone to conduct interviews, record peer and teacher feedback given in class, allowing students to revisit real-time reflections and instructional guidance outside of class.

These devices allow  students and teachers to systematically connect learning  inside and outside of the classroom. Motivation and productivity increase when students and teachers can instantaneously create reflections gather and share information.

By incorporating technology with collaborative, problem solving and real-world applications, students learn more than course content; they hone thinking skills that will last a lifetime. Sharing my work with teachers and administrators shows the NETS in action. District administrators recognize the value of my work and involve me in the updating of our policies and procedures that strengthen our districts’ ability to modernize teaching and learning with the NETS.
