Advocacy

Contributing to the Modernization of Learning

People often view technology as a luxury, rationalizing that “we didn’t need it when I was in school, why do we need it now?” There are many reasons why people may not understand the uses and benefits of educational technology.

Yet if the goal of public education is to prepare all students to be innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers, and better citizens, I would argue that we can’t leave technology out of our educational system. And that means we have to advocate for integrating technology in powerful ways.

I appreciate the opportunity to advocate for learning technologies through various mediums.  Whether it is writing, presenting and sharing within my professional networks, at my school, in my community, or with political representatives, I believe we must all ask ourselves to take an active role in advocating. Because if not you, then who? And if not now, then when?
